Mirror Wall Design, Hotel Adlon, Berlin

It’s Smokin’ Time!

Applied art at Hotel Adlon Kempinski. Exclusive mirror wall as a central eye-catcher of the hotel’s Smoker’s Lounge.

Hotel Adlon was already one of the world’s leading grand hotels at the beginning of the 20th century.

In line with its own high standards of style, Hotel Adlon Kempinski also implemented the “noblesse oblige” concept in the redesign of its public areas in summer 2016.

This also included the sophisticated Smoker’s Lounge of the luxury accommodation. The centrepiece of this small smoker’s palace is an antiqued mirrored wall element consisting of ten individual segments.

The timelessly elegant wall installation is characterised by a special surface texture, created using a multi-stage, finely modulating oxidation process, which gives the piece its abstract, poetic dimension.

As a visual anchor point, the commissioned piece underscores the cosmopolitan chic of the Berlin Smoker’s Lounge in a very individual style, inspired by the glamorous Gatsby era of New York.

A total of 2,400 silver leafs were hand-applied to the reverse side of the glass body. The mirrored wall was designed using smoky patina of the Atelier VERRE D’OR.
